After watching the following videos (below) I finally felt completely secure as to how to be absolutely certain which keywords to choose to optimize my site for.
Wordtracker is a great tool but after analyzing the keywords from wordtracker it is defnitely best to go to google trends and be certain that the data is right. Sometimes wordtracker data is right on. Other times way off.
So I wanted to tell you guys about this as it will save you a lot of time and effort by not running after the wrong keyword phrases.
So my steps to doing keyword research are:
1.go to the free keywords wordtracker tool and search the terms (that gives an estimate of the daily searches- so for monthly just multiply by 30)
then to be sure that the data is about right…
2.go to free keyword discovery tool and search — knowing that the number that they give is per year and not per day. In order to have an estimate number of monthly searches I just divide that amount by 12.
then to be absolutely certain that this data is correct and also to know which months have a higher search volume (so we can know what to expect each month and not encounter so many surprises)……
3.go to google trends and be sure that there are enough searches by analysing the data using the techniques descibed in the two videos below that you must watch.
This can be done for highly searched terms and also for more longtail keyword phrases.
In order for you to completely understand how to use the google trends you need to watch the following videos from the 30 day challenge. (These videos are used with permission)
Receive a really great 7 part video tutorial on keyword research from wordtracker by signing up at this page. You have to enter your name and email but the 7 videos are a great way for a person to get an overview as to what keyword research is all about and how to use the wordtracker tools.
This has been my number one question for very long time now. Which is the best system for getting traffic and for search engine optimization purposes? I have researched like crazy for many months and asking many people.
Of course everyone has their opinions (and many times misinformed ones) but I have consistently found that top SEO experts only recommend wordpress as the content management system for building a site.
WordPress facilitates a whole bunch of things for getting found- like the pinging and tagging. It also allows for trackbacks and this is great for you because you can easily get a link back to your site with trackbacks. There are other features but they are more in-depth and I’m definitely not an SEO expert to try to explain them here.
The Krazy Katlady over at SEOKats is a search engine optimization expert and has helped shed the light as to why seo is better done with wordpress. Her seo blog is not only informative but funny too:-)
She is not the first seo expert to say this to me.
I think wordpress is aweomse but in order to make it do exaclty what you want with design you do need to get into the code. I still need to figure how to mess with code before starting my authority niche site.
You can always have a dreamweaver site and add on a wordpress blog in the blog folder on cpanel later on.
Xsite pro is defnitely much easier than dreamweaver but dreamweaver has all of the capabilities for web design one could ever ask for. Xsite pro also makes it a snap to optimize your site. To see how Xsitepro works you can see these Xsitepro videos. Watching those will help you understand more about Xsitepro.
Both Xsite Pro and Dreamweaver are html and some people have found ways to put the dreamweaver code into wordpress– wow!! I definitely don’t know how to do this but it is good to know that this is possible.
Personally I am tending towards using wordpress as my main content management sysytem. There are so many widgets and technical capabilities that it is very hard to beat. Like a friend of mine said- wordpress is html on steroids-lol.
I also am doing market research which I think is the absolutely vital process to starting a business online. Many people approach starting a website like going after their passion.
Passion is great and essential but if your market is not lucrative why in the world would you want to spend years creating a whole bunch of content only to figure out later that there weren’t enough searches a day to be able to sustain a business with your passion?
So we need to incorporate passion and market research to decide upon a business.
