This has been my number one question for very long time now. Which is the best system for getting traffic and for search engine optimization purposes? I have researched like crazy for many months and asking many people.
Of course everyone has their opinions (and many times misinformed ones) but I have consistently found that top SEO experts only recommend wordpress as the content management system for building a site.
WordPress facilitates a whole bunch of things for getting found- like the pinging and tagging. It also allows for trackbacks and this is great for you because you can easily get a link back to your site with trackbacks. There are other features but they are more in-depth and I’m definitely not an SEO expert to try to explain them here.
The Krazy Katlady over at SEOKats is a search engine optimization expert and has helped shed the light as to why seo is better done with wordpress. Her seo blog is not only informative but funny too:-)
She is not the first seo expert to say this to me.
I think wordpress is aweomse but in order to make it do exaclty what you want with design you do need to get into the code. I still need to figure how to mess with code before starting my authority niche site.
You can always have a dreamweaver site and add on a wordpress blog in the blog folder on cpanel later on.
Xsite pro is defnitely much easier than dreamweaver but dreamweaver has all of the capabilities for web design one could ever ask for. Xsite pro also makes it a snap to optimize your site. To see how Xsitepro works you can see these Xsitepro videos. Watching those will help you understand more about Xsitepro.
Both Xsite Pro and Dreamweaver are html and some people have found ways to put the dreamweaver code into wordpress– wow!! I definitely don’t know how to do this but it is good to know that this is possible.
Personally I am tending towards using wordpress as my main content management sysytem. There are so many widgets and technical capabilities that it is very hard to beat. Like a friend of mine said- wordpress is html on steroids-lol.
I also am doing market research which I think is the absolutely vital process to starting a business online. Many people approach starting a website like going after their passion.
Passion is great and essential but if your market is not lucrative why in the world would you want to spend years creating a whole bunch of content only to figure out later that there weren’t enough searches a day to be able to sustain a business with your passion?
So we need to incorporate passion and market research to decide upon a business.

Hey Eren!
I have a design and copywriting background, so it was really hard for me to give up handcoded html for wordpress. I liked being able to craft my pages like a canvass.
But, when I realized that a 4 month old wordpress site of mine caught up to a 10 year old html site in Google rankings, I was sold on wordpress.
When you start playing in the code, in wee bits at first, you soon realize you have just as much artistic ability with wordpress. Just different stuff to learn. lol.
Thanks for the link… I’ll return the favor. I see something in your sidebar I’d like to link to.

Cool Steveorevo,
I’m sure that will be useful for some many people that are trying to incorporate both.
All the best,

Don’t forget BANs or Build A Niche Store. Even though the platform is advertised as being used for building eBay affiliate sites, with a little studying and some basic CSS modification you can use the script to build just about any type of site.
I’m with WordPress all the way. But between you and I, when I get enough money to blow, I’m grabbing me a copy of XSite pro. It just seems so sexy, I gotta try it out for myself!

Hey Elijah- yes I’ve had my eye on Xsitepro for quite some time now. The version 2 looks soooo awesome. Soooo easy to handle.
I am considering using both Xsite pro for main site then adding a vamped out WordPress blog to it.
That way i can get the best of both worlds and hand design my html part.

I’ve found that a combination of techniques works for my websites. If you’re looking to build a 5-15 page mini-site focused around a specific topic Xsite Pro 2 is an astounding tool in your arsenal. I get ranked for stuff very quickly with just a few backlinks. WordPress is also very easy to get ranked for but I’ve found it difficult to learn to customize. I tend to use it for bigger sites. Like you mentioned you can always add a wordpress blog onto your existing site.
